It’s best to shower to wet your hair instead of soaking your extensions in the bath. Direct the running water in the direction where your hair grows to prevent tangling and remove hair product residue. If you don’t have a shower, invest in an attachment for your tub tap to prevent your hair from swirling around in your bath water.
Don’t Wash Immediately:
Experts recommend waiting a minimum of 48 hours before washing stick-tip hair extensions after the initial fitting. The bonds are tighter this time, and the water’s extra weight can weigh them down, making your entire head feel heavier.
Don’t Scrub:
Apply hair extensions-friendly shampoo by smoothing it down instead of scrubbing. Gently massage your scalp with your fingertips while careful not to cross the extensions over themselves to prevent tangling.
Don’t Forget Conditioner:
Apply conditioner only to the middle and down your hair to avoid lubricating the rings. Smooth the conditioner through, and run your fingers through the stick-tip hair extensions. Wait for a few minutes before rinsing.
Drying Your Hair:
Avoid rough-drying and scrubbing with a towel, as this can damage the extensions and cause tangling. Lightly squeeze or pat the hair to remove water. A hairdryer can provide a smooth result, but use low to medium heat. Direct the air in a downward motion from the roots and use your fingers or a round brush to comb through your locks.
